Profile
Delphine’s photography includes portraiture, landscape and social documentary. Since graduating from Cleveland College of Art and Design in 2007, she has been working on commercial work; commissions and personal projects as a photographic artist; lecturing in HE; therapeutic counselling in primary care; and developing and promoting photography across a broad spectrum within education and the community.
In her personal work, Delphine draws on archetypal imagery as an expression of both personal and collective inner psychological and emotional experience. She values the photograph as a location of stillness that invites a reflective and imaginative rapport, similar to the operation of an image in a poem. Using the camera to reveal new ways of seeing is an ongoing process of illumination and transformation that enriches her own development and informs her work with other people. Delphine’s photography is built on the premise that creativity is a natural and healthy part of personal growth and development and, because it is an egalitarian medium, everyone is in some way a photographer.

Nurturing a meaningful relationship with the subject, whether it is the environment, a social event, still life or portrait, Delphine aims to create photographs that are both aesthetically satisfying and provoke depth and freshness of engagement. When she undertakes commissions, she believes in working in partnership with clients to allow an organic process. In this way, unique photographs are created together.
Therapeutic Counselling
Delphine completed a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2008 and works on a one-to-one basis in Primary Care. She uses photography, where appropriate, as part of the therapeutic process. This sometimes involves viewing personal photographs or using photographic images as a starting point for reflection and insight.
Collaborative Photography
People of all ages are natural photographers and photography easily lends itself to their creativity, both with traditional and digital technologies. Delphine works on a freelance basis within education and the community. Projects include: photographic responses to topics within the curriculum; using photography as an empowering medium to develop self-esteem and self-awareness; and photography as a tool to research and document different areas of life.
